Nebraska Basketball Officials, the organization which assigns lower level and varsity officials for the Metro Conference, will have its organizational and sign up meeting for the 2018-19 season, Wednesday night, May 9, at 7 pm in the Cafeteria at Omaha Burke High School. NBO Assignor Al Monaco will go over the group’s two-year contract extension and some structure changes for the upcoming season. This will be the only meeting before assigning begins this summer, so officials are encouraged to attend and pay dues so they are ready to be entered into Arbiter for assignments.
Annual dues remain unchanged and will be $50 and includes being registered with Arbiter, NBO’s online scheduling software.
Officials working varsity contests in the Metro will need to be registered with the Nebraska School Activities Association ($45 fee) and NBO ($50 dues). No additional fees will be charged by NBO. Officials do NOT need to pay additional fees or be registered with the Nebraska High School Officials Association (NHSOA) to work varsity or lower level Metro contests.
The meeting at Omaha Burke will last approximately one hour and will include varsity and lower level assigning discussion.
NBO is once again assigning the Omaha Bryan Varsity Summer Tournament, Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3. NBO will be conducting a 3-person clinic on Saturday, June 2. Limited spaces are available for the clinic, which is intended to help officials gain experience in 3-person mechanics. Monaco will conduct the clinic. Officials can register for the clinic at the May 9 meeting. Veteran officials will also be used to work the tournament. NBO is also assigning the Metro Varsity Boys League on Monday nights at the Iowa West Fieldhouse in June. We are also assigning the Metro Varsity Girls League on Monday nights at Papiliion-LaVista High School. These league nights are June 4, 11, 18, 25.
Officials wishing to write checks for their dues may do so to Nebraska Basketball Officials. Receipts will also be available for those wishing to pay with cash. The registration form is attached to this email. You can print it, fill it out, and bring it to the meeting to save time. Officials will not be registered with Arbiter this year until 2018-19 dues are paid. This includes all lower level officials.
Anyone with questions can contact Monaco at monaco.nbo@gmail.com. Or, they can call him at 402-525-0699.
