Elkhorn Attack and Elite officials will have next weekend off from youth basketball games before gearing up for a busy February. Our next tournament is Saturday and Sunday, February 10 and 11, with games being played in Bennington and Elkhorn schools, as well as Union Bank and Trust Sports Complex2 South. Please plan ahead and text your availability for Saturday and Sunday, February 10 and 11 to Brent at 402-618-2859 or Jim at 402-215-1740.

Elkhorn Attack and Elite basketball programs will be hosting the January Jam, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 26, 27 and 28. Please read through the following referee schedules and text your confirmations to Brent at 402-618-2859 or Jim at 402-215-1740.

Please read through the schedules carefully as we are playing on 18 courts at the Iowa West Fieldhouse (8 courts), Union Bank and Trust Sports Complex South2 (6 courts) and Elkhorn Middle School (2 courts) and Elkhorn Grandview Middle School (2 courts).

Due to the major winter storm with heavy snow, high winds and dangerous wind chills, the decision was made Friday afternoon to CANCEL this weekend’s Bennington Badger Youth Basketball Tournament. NO GAMES will be played TONIGHT, SATURDAY or SUNDAY!

The next tournament for us will be the Elkhorn Attack/Elite January Jam on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, January 26, 27 and 28. Nebraska Basketball Officials will have a full slate of high school freshman, reserve, junior varsity and varsity games the weekend of January 19, 20, 21, but NO youth basketball games.

The January Jam is a large tournament that will be played at Union Bank and Trust Sports Complex2 South in Elkhorn and Elkhorn Middle School, as well as the Iowa West Fieldhouse. You may begin sending availability for the January 26, 27 and 28 weekend to Brent at 402-618-2859 and Jim 402-215-1740.

Stay warm and safe this weekend. Let us know if you are interested in picking up additional high school games next weekend. And feel free to begin sending availability for the January Jam, January 26, 27 and 28.

The referee schedule for the Bennington Badger Youth Basketball Tournament has been released for next weekend. Games will be played on the 6 courts at Union Bank and Trust Sports Complex South and then Bennington Elementary, Middle School and High School courts.

You can also mark your calendars for the following weekend of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 19, 20 and 21 as we will have another large youth tourney.

The Elkhorn Attack and Elite’s “Play the Big O!” Tournament is scheduled for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 5, 6 and 7, at Union Bank and Trust Sports Complex2 South (6 courts) and Elkhorn Middle School (2 courts). The tournament is a smaller one with just 8 total courts to kick off 2024. A much larger tourney is scheduled for the following weekend, January 12, 13, 14, as the Bennington Badger Youth Tournament will be played on 17 courts in Bennington and at UBT2 South.

After a nice break, things begin to heat up again for youth basketball in the New Year. Elkhorn Attack Boys and Elite Girls host the Play the Big O! tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 5, 6 and 7. Then, January 12, 13 and 14 it’s the Annual Bennington Badger Youth Tournament for Boys and Girls.

Both of these tournaments will pay $30 per game.

Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 15, 16 and 17 as the Elkhorn Attack and Elite Holiday Hoopfest Tourney will be played at Elkhorn area schools.

The Elkhorn Attack Boys and Elkhorn Elite Girls Youth Basketball Programs have come to an agreement to pay officials $30 per game effective immediately, beginning this weekend, December 8, 9 & 10.

The announcement was made by Elkhorn Attack and Elite President Todd Jakopovic, on the eve of one of its bigger youth baskeball tournament weekends. The Elkhorn Elite “Girls Rule” Tournament will be held this Friday night, Saturday and Sunday at Union Bank and Trust Sports Complex (South) in Elkhorn, as well as several Elkhorn Middle Schools. The Elkhorn Attack Boys Annual “Santa Shootout” will be played Friday night, Saturday and Sunday at the Iowa West Fieldhouse in Council Bluffs.

“We continually strive to give youth the best opportunity to play basketball in a great facility with great competition,” Jakopovic said. “I have been negotiating with Brent Robinson and Jim Sauer to provide us with the best officials we can offer. This new financial arrangement gives eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa youth basketball officials the fair and consistent compensation they deserve. We appreciate everything they do and look forward to a great working relationship.” 

The agreement means ALL officials will receive $30 per game. A tier structure had been used in the past, but Jakopovic said Robinson and Sauer advocated for the officials to all be treated equally. 

“Brent and Jim felt this was the right way to do this,” Jakopovic said. “With the shortage of officials, they felt EVERY official is important to the success of our tournaments and our program. We couldn’t agree more, and that is why we are doing this now.”
