Elkhorn Attack and Elite Halloween Havoc Tournament Scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 27, 28 and 29; Please Text Your Availability to 402-618-2859 or 402-215-1740

Elkhorn Attack and Elite will be having their Halloween Havoc Youth Basketball Tournament for Girls and Boys on Friday night, and all day and evening Saturday and Sunday, October 27, 28 and 29. Please text your availability for this tournament to Brent Robinson at 402-618-2859 or Jim Sauer at 402-215-1740.

Games will be played at Union Bank and Trust Sports Complex2 South, as well as Elkhorn Grandview Middle School and Elkhorn Middle School on Friday night; UBT2 South, Elkhorn Grandview Middle School and Elkhorn Middle School on Saturday; and the Iowa West Fieldhouse, UBT2 South, Elkhorn Grandview Middle School and Elkhorn Middle School on Sunday.

Referee schedules for the tournament will be posted by Monday evening October 23, with confirmations obtained by Tuesday October 24.

The Tip-Off Classic opens the season for the Elkhorn Attack and Elite Youth Basketball programs this Saturday and Sunday, October 21 and 22 at the Union Bank and Trust Sports Complex2 South. Referee schedules have been released for this small tournament. Please text your confirmations to 402-618-2859.

The following weekend, October 27, 28 and 29, Elkhorn Attack and Elite will host the larger Halloween Havoc tournament. There will be more games available for officials that weekend.

Nebraska Basketball Officials Meeting Scheduled For Wednesday, September 20 at 6 pm at the Little Theatre at Omaha Westside High School

A preseason meeting for Nebraska Basketball Officials will be held on Wednesday, September 20 at 6 pm in the Little Theatre at Omaha Westside High School. All officials, both lower level and varsity, should attend this meeting. This will be the second meeting for the upcoming 2023-24 Metro Conference Basketball season.

Officials wishing to sign up for the discounted rate of $70 for NBO fees need to attend and register at this meeting. Officials were given the option of attending one of the first two meetings to pay the $70 rate. If you do not attend one of these meetings, you will be required to pay the $75 rate thereafter.

Assigning for varsity games has begun with all games being loaded into Arbiter. You must attend a meeting to be assigned for these games. Lower level games are now being loaded into Arbiter. Those games will begin being assigned in mid-October.

There are some new procedures and rules for the 2023-24 season. Those will be discussed at the meeting. Varsity assignor Al Monaco and lower level assignor Brent Robinson will both be at the meeting and will discuss procedures and answer questions. New members of the NBO Board of Directors will also attend.

Premier and Adidas Girls Basketball Events Coming to Omaha and Council Bluffs, Friday through Tuesday, July 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11; Please Email or Text Your Availability to robinson.nbo@gmail.com or 402-618-2859

The Premier Grand and Premier Aftermath Girls Basketball tourneys, as well as the Adidas 3SSB Girls Gauntlet Series will be played in Omaha and Council Bluffs, Iowa, Friday through Tuesday, July 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. These NCAA Live period events will bring some of the best girls high school players from across the country to the Union Bank and Trust Sports Complex and the Iowa West Fieldhouse. These events will run much like the Adidas boys event that was held here in April. Be as specific as possible when sending your availability. A majority of these games will use 3-person crews and will pay $35 per game. Games will begin at 9 am on Friday morning, July 7 and will go into Friday evening. Saturday’s games on July 8 will also begin at 9 am, with final games scheduled for 7 pm. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday schedules will be announced later this week, but they should be very similar to the the first two days.

We are especially going to need to be able to fill the daytime games on Friday, and then Monday and Tuesday. But, please also keep in mind how important the night games are when providing your availability. Please send availability as soon as possible so we can start putting together preliminary schedules.

Nebraska Basketball Officials Pre-Season Meeting and Sign-Up for the 2023-24 Metro Conference Season Set for Wednesday, May 24, 6 p.m., at Omaha Burke High School Cafeteria

The 2023-24 Nebraska Basketball Officials Pre-Season Meeting and Sign-Up will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, at the Omaha Burke High School Cafeteria. We will go over plans for the upcoming season and also discuss summer camp and clinic opportunities. We will also take early sign-ups and offer a discount for those that pay fees early.

NBO varsity assigner Al Monaco and lower level assigner Brent Robinson will go over plans for the next school year. The meeting will also introduce new NBO board members and clinicians who will be supervising and training at summer camps and clinics. All previous officials registered with NBO should have received an email from Rod Suggitt. He will be leading the organization in setting up the summer training.

Officials who sign up Wednesday, May 24, will pay $70 for their 2023-24 fees. If you attend this meeting, or the next meeting that will occur in the early fall, there will be no increase in fees. After that, the fee will increase to $75.

We will have the final sign-up meeting for Nebraska Basketball Officials on Wednesday night, November 16, at 6:30 pm, in the Omaha Burke High School Cafeteria. We will go through the NSAA’s Part 1 Open Book Test and also discuss and answer any questions you might have concerning the new shot clock guidelines or any other subjects as the season approaches. Please bring a copy of the NSAA test with you to the meeting.

This is just a reminder that tonight at 7 p.m., we will be having another Nebraska Basketball Officials Shot Clock Clinic and NBO sign-up opportunity. This is open to all NBO Varsity and Lower Level officials. If you haven’t signed up yet and paid your dues, tonight would be an excellent opportunity.

NBO to Host Pre-Season Meeting and Go Over Class A Shot Clock Guidelines Tonight at 7 pm at Omaha Burke Gymnasium

This is just a reminder that Nebraska Basketball Officials will be hosting a pre-season meeting to go over the new Class A Shot Clock Guidelines Tonight at 7 pm in the Omaha Burke High School gym.

The meeting is open to ALL officials registered with NBO. We are ready to begin assigning Varsity Metro games to officials who have paid their dues for the 2022-2023 season and have attended one of the two upcoming Shot Clock clinics.

Registrations will be accepted at tonight’s meeting for both varsity and lower level NBO officials.

A second Shot Clock meeting for NBO members will be held on Wednesday August 24 at Omaha Burke at 7 pm.

NCAA official John Higgins will be at tonight’s meeting to assist and give input and pointers on use of the Shot Clock.

Those needing to register tonight should arrive between 6:30 and 6:50 so the meeting can begin at 7 pm.

The Shot Clock will only be used in Class A varsity games this season, but lower level NBO officials are welcome to attend and learn the procedures directed by the National Federation and NSAA.
