NBO had an excellent 2021-22 season and we are happy to announce we are locked in for continuing our association with the Metro Conference through the 2023-24 campaign. The Metro will be adding two more schools in 2022-23 and another in 2023-24. We are also preparing to introduce the use of the 35-second shot clock in varsity games this upcoming season. Please plan to attend the June 1 meeting at Westside at 6:30 and get your dues paid for the 2022-23 season. We plan to start assigning games as soon as possible after the signup meeting. We are excited to announce there will be NO increase in fees this year. They will remain at $70. Pay will be $60 per game for all lower level contests and $85 for varsity contests this winter.

I would like to compile an availability list for the summer events as quickly as possible. You may look at the dates provided and text or email your availability to me at either 402-618-2859 or robinson.nbo@gmail.com. Please be as specific as possible with your availability. I will do what I can to accommodate everyone, but especially on Mondays and Tuesdays I may need to move people from Papio to UBT, and vice versa. Tuesday night there will be two courts each at Millard North and Skutt, and three courts at Millard West.

This is one of the best summer schedules we have ever provided to NBO officials. But it doesn’t end there! You will also still have the ability to work all Omaha Sports Academy tournaments, including some excellent AAU-style tournaments like the Omaha Crusaders’ River Cities Classic around the Fourth of July, and other quality events put on by Prep Hoops, RecruitLook, Midwest Live! We will also be assigning officials for some Lincoln events, including the Nebraska Attack No-Zone tourney in mid July. We will conclude with the season-ending MAYB Girls North National Tournament set for Omaha, July 29-30-31.

We are expanding a new training program for beginning officials, as well. If you would like to volunteer to work with some of the high school, college and inexperienced older officials we have showing interest, please contact Brent Robinson at 402-618-2859 or email me at robinson.nbo@gmail.com.

Please feel free to refer any one you may know that wants to become a basketball official. We do basketball only!

If you have any questions, feel free to email Al Monaco at Monaco.nbo@gmail.com or Brent Robinson at robinson.nbo@gmail.com. We will also try to answer any of your additional questions on Wednesday night, June 1, at Omaha Westside.
