NSAA Part 1 (Open Book) Test Review Set for Tonight at Omaha Burke, 6:30 pm

The review for the NSAA Part 1 Open Book test will be tonight at 6:30 pm, at the Omaha Burke High School cafeteria. Brent Robinson will go over the test for anyone interested. This review is intended for all basketball referees, including those who are not registered with the NSAA, but are intending to work lower level and youth games at the Omaha Sports Academy. The meeting should last just over an hour.

NSAA Open Book (Part 1) Test Review Set for Tuesday, November 7, at Omaha Burke High School Cafeteria, 6:30 pm

The Nebraska School Activities Association open book (Part 1) test review has been scheduled for Tuesday night, November 7, at 6:30 pm, in the Omaha Burke High School cafeteria.

We will go over all 100 questions on the NSAA test and discuss answers. The session should take just over an hour and all in attendance should be able to go online and complete their tests after the meeting.

This test review is very worthwhile for all officials planning on officiating basketball this winter, whether or not you plan to work Nebraska High School games. It is also a valuable informational meeting for youth officials planning on working Omaha Sports Academy or other youth basketball games.

Please bring a copy of the NSAA test with you to the meeting. We will NOT have copies of the test available. If you cannot print out the test, text Brent Robinson at 402-618-2859 or email him at robinson.nbo@gmail.com. We will try to see if some of our officials can bring an extra copy.

This will be the only test review scheduled this season.

Nebraska Basketball Officials’ 2017-18 Fall Meeting Set for Wednesday, September 27, at Westside High School

Nebraska Basketball Officials, the organization which assigns lower level and varsity officials for the Metro Conference, as well as middle school and elementary officials for the Omaha Public Schools, will have its fall meeting for the 2017-18 season, Wednesday night, September, 27, at 6:30 pm, in the small Auditorium at Omaha Westside High School. This will be the last meeting before assigning gets into full swing for this coming winter, so officials are encouraged to attend and pay dues so they are ready to be entered into Arbiter for assignments.

Annual dues will be $50 and includes being registered with Arbiter, NBO’s online scheduling software.

Officials working varsity contests in the Metro will need to be registered with the Nebraska School Activities Association ($45 fee) and the NBO ($50 dues). No additional fees will be charged by NBO. Officials do NOT need to pay additional fees or be registered with the Nebraska High School Officials Association (NHSOA) to work varsity Metro contests.

The meeting will last approximately one hour with Nebraska Basketball Officials’ assignor Al Monaco going over updates for the 2017-18 season. Lower Level NBO assignor Justin Albrecht will also be in attendance.

Officials wishing to write checks for their dues may do so to Nebraska Basketball Officials. Receipts will also be available for those wishing to pay with cash. Officials will not be registered with Arbiter this year until 2017-18 dues are paid. This includes all lower level officials.

Metro Basketball Prep Fall League Begins September 16; Number of Teams Grows, Games Now to Be Played at Iowa West Fieldhouse

The Metro Basketball Prep Fall League will be bigger with more teams this year and games will be played at the Iowa West Fieldhouse in order to handle the growth. First games are scheduled for Saturday, September 16, and will be played for five consecutive weekends. Games will be played at 8, 9, 10 and 11 a.m.., on six courts at the Fieldhouse. Officials can begin texting their availability for the weekends now to Brent Robinson at 402-618-2859.

The Saturdays are September 16, September 23, September 30, October 7 and October 14. Officials should turn in availability for either two- or four-game sets. Two-person crews will be used with some special three-person crews as assigned by Nebraska Basketball Officials’ Assignor Al Monaco.

NBO Asked to Provide Volunteer Officials For Metro Coaches All-Star Games on Saturday, June 3

Nebraska Basketball Officials has been approached by the Metro Coaches Association to provide volunteers to officiate the group’s All-Star Girls and Boys games on Saturday, June 3, at Creighton Prep. The Girls game is scheduled for 6 pm, while the Boys game is scheduled for 7:30 pm.

Proceeds from the game go to provide two scholarships the Coaches Association awards to local athletes.

Nebraska Basketball Officials 2017-2018 Sign Up Meeting Set for this Wednesday, April 26

Nebraska Basketball Officials, the organization which assigns lower level and varsity officials for the Metro Conference, as well as middle school and elementary officials for the Omaha Public Schools, will have its organizational and sign up meeting for the 2017-18 season, this Wednesday night, April 26, at 6:30 pm, in Room 222 at Omaha Westside High School. This will be the only meeting before assigning begins this summer, so officials are encouraged to attend and pay dues so they are ready to be entered into Arbiter for assignments.

Annual dues will be $50 and includes being registered with Arbiter, NBO’s online scheduling software.

Elkhorn South High School will be joining the Metro Conference this year and NBO officials will be working Elkhorn South contests. Monaco will also go over information on NBO’s recent contract extension with the Metro Conference.

Limited spaces are available for the clinic, which is intended to help officials gain experience in 3-person mechanics. Monaco will conduct the clinic. Officials can register for the clinic that evening. Veteran officials will also be used to work the tournament.

The registration form is attached to this post. You can print it, fill it out, and bring it to the meeting to save time. Needed! 2 Officials for OPS Elementary Girls Games Today at 4:50 PM

Nebraska Basketball Officials is looking for 2 officials to work Omaha Public Schools Elementary Girls games this afternoon at 4:50 pm at Miller Park and Skinner Magnet Elementary Schools.

The games consist of 6 minute running clock quarters. Pay is $30 and the games usually last less than 40 minutes. Your duties consist more of game management than actual officiating as a majority of the players have not played basketball on organized teams. Officials who have been working the games report that it is a very pleasant atmosphere where there is more teaching involved that actual officiating.

NSAA Part 1, Open Book Basketball Test Review Scheduled for this Wednesday, Nov. 9, 6:30 pm, at Omaha Burke Auditorium

The Nebraska School Activities Association, Part 1, Open Book Basketball test review is scheduled for this Wednesday night, November 9, at 6:30 pm, in the Omaha Burke High School Auditorium.

Any basketball officials wishing to attend are invited to do so. All Omaha Sports Academy officials are encouraged to attend, whether or not they elect to officiate high school basketball this season. The review will go over all 100 questions on this year’s Part 1, Open Book test.

Officials are encouraged to go to the NSAA website and print out a copy of the test and complete it before the review. Please bring your own copy of the test to the review. They will NOT be provided.

Nebraska Basketball Officials representatives Al Monaco and Justin Albrecht will be in attendance at the meeting. They will be available if NBO members have any questions before the approaching start of the high school season. Omaha Sports Academy Director of Officials Brent Robinson will lead the review. This will be the only test review conducted for NBO  and OSA referees before the Part 1 test is due on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

REMINDER: Returning Basketball Officials Need to Renew NSAA Membership and Pay Fees By Monday, October 31

Nebraska Basketball Officials (NBO) are reminded that if you are a returning official with the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA), you must pay your 2016-17 fees and register by Monday, October 31 to avoid paying a late fee. The fee is $45, but will increase to $55 from November 1 thru the 18th. Officials who are new to the NSAA have until November 18 to register without paying a late fee. This only applies to officials who have not been previously registered with the NSAA.

Anyone wishing to work games for NBO this season should have already paid their $50 membership fee in order to be registered on Arbiter and to begin being assigned games. If you have paid your fees but are not on Arbiter, please email Al Monaco at monaco.nbo@gmail.com.

The date for the NSAA Part 1 Open Book test review will be Wednesday, November 9 at 6:30 pm at the Omaha Burke High School Auditorium. Omaha Sports Academy assignor Brent Robinson will lead the test review. It is open to all basketball officials wishing to attend. The NSAA Part 1 Open Book test is due on Friday, November 18.
